VR product “Destination Vratsa – greatness and beauty in 360°” and VR experience offered by KNIGINI Association

The VR was realised by a business partner. Knigini invested financial and human resources to create the VR narrative and product. Initially most stakeholders approached for funding insisted that the creation of such a VR product could result in touristic rate decline. (quite the opposite is true!) After several meetings, the municipality of Vratsa, envisaging the potential of such a product, granted a 1/3 of the financial resources. All the institutions involved supported us with permissions needed for shooting in virtual reality, people and historic background. To promote it actively: – visited residences for elderly people to create an offer for them – established sustainable collaborations with cultural and natural sites – established collaborations with schools and youth organisations – participated within the frame of bigger events such as the Humans At Play event in Vratza, where young people from different regions of Bulgaria had a chance to experience the VR and also reflect on how XR wroks in creating stories, also games – international promotion during official trips and volunteer activity

Challenge they identifed

Knigini Association tracked the following problem using statistics data reports: – poor promotion of the NorthWest region of Bulgaria – lack of interactive and innovative presentation of natural landmarks, cultural and historic heritage; – young people tend to use electronic devices and social media but are missing developing their knoweldge of local offers, new skills or recreation options; – disabled people are hindered from reaching certain archaeological and natural sitеs or places of historic interest.

How they assess the results?

Established a routine of photo and video archive of participants – so far 500+ persons of age 10 to 80 have benefited. Our team tracks also side-effects (positive or negative) Positive – 90% of people are enchanted by paragliding/climbing. Being able to feel the thrill. Negative – some people with vestibular abruption do not feel comfortable – 0,01%

Tools

Knigini successfully combines offline and online tools. The trailer of the VR movie “Destination Vratsa – greatness and beauty in 360°” is uploaded to our YouTube Channel and official website – knigini.com VR headsets are provided to several touristic centers, including Ledenika Cave Information Center, KNIGINI Center. Promotion in partnership with other events and organisations such as youth events, cultural events, elderly centres and business events
